Mentoring for mothers

Are you doing your best to be patient and loving with your children, while your inner dialogue is harsh and critical?

You can experience personal growth while still being there for your children. And it doesn’t have to be a struggle.

You can have a loving inner dialogue that supports the way you want to be with your children.

You can feel that the love you pour over them also nourishes you and your inner child.

This is suitable for you who are doing your best to:

  • create secure attachment between your child and yourself.
  • set boundaries without punishing, judging, or shaming.
  • support your child to heal from stress and trauma through playing, crying, and raging.

When we embark on the parenting journey with this dedication, we inevitably become aware of all the ways that our feelings were not heard when we were growing up, and the ways that we were responded to with coercion, punishment and rewards. Even the subtlest of ways can have a big impact. We become aware of how we have adapted to these types of responses because we see how they play out in our way of relating to ourselves. And when we are stressed out and tired, we respond to our own child/ren in those same ways. This can bring about a lot of pain: As mothers we see how it hurts our child and our connection with them. Simultaneously, the situation may cause the pain of our own childhood to resurface. 

That's a lot to hold space for when mothering at the same time. Not to mention doing all the other things that makes up modern day-to-day life!

But it doesn’t have to be like this.

Mothering can become a wonderful opportunity to free ourselves from the ways that we have learned to be harsh, if we know how and have sufficient support.

My passion is to show you how, and to support you in forming the same beautiful bond to yourself as you are wanting to have with your child. You may actually find that it becomes a lot easier.

I can assist you in distinguishing when painful feelings come from the adult within you, and when they come from a younger version of you.

Together, we can uncover what is showing up to be healed when everyday parenting situations cause reactions from your inner child.

I can help you find the loving and  nurturing words you long to hear and speak to yourself. I can speak them to you when you need to hear them from someone other than yourself.

I can hold loving space for your inner child as she expresses the kinds of painful feelings that usually make her (you) be on guard, or feeling ashamed, or hiding. This way, you can experience and embody what it's like to be received in love and compassion. 

With me, you can practice saying things that will allow you to be your authentic Self more with your child or partner. It may be setting boundaries and asking for what you want.

What kind of approach is this?

 

As your mentor on this journey, I work from this core belief:
You were born with everything you need to love being a mother, to find your way as a mother, and to mother yourself along the way.

My role is to help you realize and embody that.
To do that, I draw on an approach shaped by many years of study and hands-on experience — both personal and professional.

Mentoring packages

This is process-oriented, holistic work — and that means we need time. We’ll work together over a period of either 3 or 5 months. If you'd like to get to know me and my approach before committing to a longer time period, you're welcome to begin with just one month. You’ll find an overview of the packages I offer below.

We meet on Zoom at set times, and each session lasts 50 minutes. Most of my packages also include support between sessions through a free app called Voxer.

 

Why support between sessions?

I love offering support between our sessions — because it's in the shifts you make in your everyday life that transformation happens. Everyday life brings so many opportunities for healing and growth, and most mentees find it easier to recognize and act on those opportunities when they know I’m available in between calls.

Voxer is a free voice and text messaging app commonly used in coaching and mentoring work.

Here are a few examples of when you might want to reach out:
🌱 When something we've worked on brings up thoughts or feelings you'd like to share
🌱 When you need to be seen and heard in something you're going through
🌱 When having access to me helps you follow through on what you're practicing
🌱 When you need support in trusting your inner YES, NO, or MAYBE

These are just examples — you can use this time however you need it. I respond as soon as I can, and always within 24 hours.

 

Timing:

We meet at the same time every other week.
Currently, I offer individual sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 10:00 and 15:00, and in the evenings Monday through Thursday between 20:30 and 21:20 (CET).

Each session is 50 minutes long, with up to 30 minutes of Voxer support between them.

Invoices are sent once a month.

My own journey as a mother

When I became a mother, I came face to face with my inner critical voices. I had done a lot of inner work before becoming a mother, and in this new and intense season of life it became painfully clear where I still needed healing. I wanted to be the best version of myself more than ever before, both for my own sake and for my child. Yet, this new intensity made that really difficult at times. I spoke harshly to myself, and when I caught myself being hard on my little son… I judged myself even more.

Oh, how painful that was. And how far I felt from being the mother — and the person — I wanted to be. 

I wanted to be loving and warm all the time, both on the inside and the outside. I wanted to take responsibility for all my feelings, and not let them spill over onto my most precious little one. I was supposed to handle this!

So I asked for help — and received the most beautiful support.
I managed to soften that strong, harsh inner critic. I discovered how to make it my best guide toward deeper healing. And love — for myself, for my children, and for Life itself.Â
